Provisional Patent

The provisional patent enables you to book your name against your invention even before they are finalized. The patent is awarded to the person who files it first, rather than the person who invents it first. A provision specification must contain the title and description of the invention. The description should start from the second page, starting with the field of invention and containing the background of the invention, object of the invention and statement of the invention. In provisional specification, claims are not included. Claims are normally included only in the complete specification. The documents for the permanent patent would, however, have to be filed within 12 months or else the application would be abandoned entirely.
